I have called this page “This and That” but it could have been called “Going Down Memory Lane”
An areal photo taken of the South Innisfil Arboretum
This areal photo shows our garage and the trees that have been planted in the lower meadow
The birdhouse still exists but unfortunately the bridge is no longer there
Friends of the Arboretum painted this fence and it is still there
This beautiful Colorado Blue Spruce standing to the left of the garage is dedicated to “All the Volunteers of the South Innisfil Arboretum”
As you can see the dedication took place in 2004
On top of this Board it says “The Gilford & District Horticultural Society gratefully acknowledge donations to the Arboretum building fund by the following persons and businesses” (they are listed in the centre and to the left. To the right is a list of the volunteers that have donated their time to maintaining the Arboretum
This Colorado Spruce in front of the Garage is dedicated In Honour of the Past Presidents of Gillford & District Horticultural Society
The dedication took place in 2013
The whole line of Norway Spruces lining the parking lot are dedicated “In Honour of the Lifetime Members of Gilford & District Horticultural Society
The dedication took place in 2013
A family of beavers moved into the Arboretum in the fall/winter of 2012/13
The result is a large flooded area in the northern unused area of the property. Steps have been taken to divert water into the pond so our sponsored trees will not be affected
It is an ongoing battle but Glenn Rogers, our Grounds Keeper is doing his best to keep the beavers at bay
