The Annual General Meeting 2014 on Sunday, November 16 started as usual with members and guests sitting down to a delicious Pot Luck Supper.
Then we got down to business and reports for 2014 were given by President Marilyn Elliott, Treasurer Debbie Ryan, Secretary Shirley Richard, Mona Rea and a wonderful speech was given by Charter Member, Past President (twice) and Lifetime Member Ruth Bolt about the past in this our 35 Anniversary as a Society. District 16 Director Russ Talbot installed the new Executive for 2015 (picture below)
Eveline Teras gave the blessing before dinner and spoke about the Photography Competition later in the evening. Flower Show Chair Jenni Murrell and Flower Show Recorder Agnes More took care of giving out the Flower Show Awards.
President Marilyn Elliott presented Mona Rea and Judith Matchett with 20 year Society Service Pins and Mona Rea presented Betty Lou Flear with a Recognition Certificate for her many years of service to our Society. Wynfred Gill (Billie) was not present to receive her Recognition Certificate.
Agnes More presented Marilyn Elliott with the Award for the Best Oriental Lily
Judith Matchett presented Mona Rea with the Award for the Best Peony in Show
Agnes More presented Mario Rea with a Gift Certificate and Award for the Largest Spanish Onion given by the Lakeview Gardens in Lefroy. Mario’s onion weighed 1310g – Mary Brown’s 704g and Agnes More’s 604g
Victor Foster presented Eveline Teras with the Best Rose Memorial Award
Ruth Matchett presented Debbie Ryan with the Best Gladiola Award
Jenni Murrell presented Debbie Ryan with the Best Chrysanthemum Award
Our First Female Mayor of the Town of Innisfil, Her Honour Barb Baguley presented Diane Sykes with the Award for Most Points in Houseplants. Diane won with 27 points, Debbie Ryan had 14 points and Eveline Teras 12 points.
Let’s keep it in the family – Michael Lepinsky presented wife Eveline Teras with the Award for the Best Iris.
The Award for the Annual Rose and Flower Show Most Fragrant Rose was not given out this year as we only had 2 entries in this category – we need 3
Mario Rea presented Eveline Teras with the Award for Most Points in Vegetables. Last year 2 members tied for 1st place and 2nd place was only 1 point behind. Eveline won big this year with 73 points, Mario Rea came 2nd with 44 points and Jenni Murrell 3rd with 42 points
Victor Foster presented the Award for Overall Points for Rose Shows to both Debbie Ryan and Eveline Teras. They both scored 14 points. Diane Sykes came 2nd with 13 points and Victor Foster 3rd with 11 points.
Lucy Valente presented Linda Becic with the Award for Most Points in Flower Design “B”. Linda won with 11 points, Dale Bowie came 2nd with 6 points and Lucy Valente 3rd with 5 points.
Jenni Murrell presented Mona Rea with the Best King Alfred Daffodil Award.
Johanna Chudzinski presented Jenni Murrell with the Award for Most Points in Floral Design “A”. Jenni won with 52 points, Eveline Teras came 2nd with 34 points and Marilyn Elliott 3rd with 23 points.
President Marilyn Elliott presented Mona Rea with the Award for Overall Points in Flower Show Specimens. It was also a close race. Mona won with 130 points, Debbie Ryan came 2nd with 126 points and Marilyn Elliott 3rd with 106 points.
Photo Competition Convener Eveline Teras presented Diane Sykes with the Award for Most Points in Photography. Diane won with 39 points, Sharon Wice came 2nd with 20 points and Eveline Teras 3rd with 19 points
